I Have Taken In Some Orphans!

I was chosen by Val at "Val's Quilting Studio" blog to care for her orphan applique blocks! She had put them up for adoption and I won! She has a great blog and also does wonderful long arm quilting. Her studio looks like such a fun place to create in. You can visit her  HERE  and read about the orphan block giveaway  HERE.

My new applique blocks . Two are completely finished and one is ready to stitch.

The other blocks are all nicely organized with fabric already picked out! (The hardest thing for me to do, choosing the fabric!)

Now for some show and share from our last guild meeting

I believe Pam (on the right) made this for a graduation gift.

Jackie made this one. A lady in Soldonta, Alaska designs these quilts. She has lots of different Alaskan designs. They sell kits at our local quilt shop. You can also see more of her designs on her website  HERE .

Another by Jackie, she has been busy!

Jackie also finished her Shirttails quilt from Bonnie Hunter's class, though she said she did begin working on it before the class.

Jackie's Father's Day gifts.

Lynn's Gordian Knot.
Lynn did an excellent job quilting this one.

Rena's top finished. I am sorry I forgot the name of this quilt, but I think she made it as a mystery quilt as part of the Valdez Quilt Festival.

I think Linda is behind this finished top!

String Spiderweb progress.

Lately I have been having trouble keeping up on my blog reading. Do any of you seem to be having trouble too? Is it just that it is summer and there is so much else to be done this time of year? Anyways, I apologize to my fellow bloggers that I have not been keeping up with their posts!  Happy Quilting! Rebecca

Little Packages......

Little packages hold the most awesome surprises!! This is the little package I received in the mail Monday. It was from a dear blogging friend, Sunny, who blogs at Quilting Dreams, you can visit her wonderful blog  HERE. She always has some fun quilting projects going and beautiful outdoor photos of her kayaking and hiking excursions. So, now back to the little package she sent me.

I was so blessed when I opened it up!! Look what was inside!! This beautiful little quilt!!  Every time I look at it I smile! It is such a happy quilt! Blogging friends are the best. It was so kind and thoughtful of her to make this for me. Thank you Sunny!!

This quilt is so happy and cheerful! I just need to find the perfect place to hang it.

A lovely card!

Even the back is beautiful!

Happy Quilting, Rebecca

What I am Working on Now

So, a change of pace for me. I am working on one of my contributions for our guild's silent auction. I am hoping to complete two, but we will see! They will hold the auction at our local fair at the end of July.  I do not normally work with batiks, but I had some leftovers from another guild project. This little quilt will measure 25 1/2" X 26 1/2" when finished. The complete saying on the quilt is, "Having someone to love is family, Having someplace to go is home, Having both is a Blessing."

Here are the blocks laid out and most of the applique pieces basted. I am not sure if I like my choice for the heart flower, I may change that. I will add the stitching to that piece after the applique is done.

I found this little quilt in the Quiltmania magazine Issue #100.

This is the original in the magazine.

I hope to do some blog visiting today! Happy Quilting, Rebecca

June First Alaska Style

So this morning we were getting some much needed rain. Then my DH said, "Look out the window quick! "  I guess I did not have to be in a hurry after all, because it kept snowing for a couple of hours. It has stopped and melted off now, but what a great way to welcome  the month of June!

Thanks for stopping by! Rebecca
