Again I am behind on my blog reading and posting! There have been other things like yard work that had to be done. I do have some quilting progress to share. I completed the 20 blocks for the Shimmer quilt! I just need to sew the rows together and find something for a the border. The pattern has a 1" inner border and then a 3" outer border.
I am sure you will see the two mistakes one star is missing its points and the other the points are going the wrong way. They have both been fixed!
There are two more projects I have been working on, they are not sewing projects but are sewing related. The first on is downsizing my quilt magazine collection. I have four banker's boxes full of magazines and then others stashed here and there. In other words I have a LOT of magazines! I took an idea that Bonnie Hunter suggested on one of her blog posts. I am going through each magazine, cutting out patterns I really like or photos of quilts that inspire me. They are place in clear sheet protectors and put into a three ring binder. I have gone through one banker's box so far and reduced it to one binder.

I have come across some great patterns! Isn't that moose cute!
The other sewing related project was making a larger pressing surface. I have lots of fabric to press for DD2's quilt and I finally decided to try and make a pressing board myself. I found a piece of plywood DH said he did not need. I used some leftover cotton batting pieces to cover one side and then covered that with a piece of flannel. I used the old Alaska stand by to hold the flannel in place on the back of the plywood, duct tape. I was not sure if it would work but it seems to holding just fine. The pressing board measures 48 1/2" X 21 1/2". It is SO much easier pressing large pieces of fabric on!! I wish I had done this a long time ago.

I got all of DD2's background squares cut out. I just need to get them sewn together and then I can prep the applique. You can see the quilt I am making for her here.
I also ordered a pattern I have wanted for years. I don't know when I will start it, but at least I have the pattern.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Rebecca
